We have a simple question to start things off: Is your game ready for China?
China is one of the largest gaming markets in the world. But breaking into it requires more than just translating your Steam page. You can try it—it’s a start—but it won’t be as effective. Know that their platforms are different, the audience is different, and your marketing approach needs to be built specifically for the Chinese player.
We know how tough it is to start. We understand the difficulty of not knowing where to start. That is why we crafted this quiz that takes less than two minutes to complete. Answer ten questions about your game's localisation, marketing assets, social presence, and budget, and we will give you a clear picture of where you stand and what to focus on next before you enter the market.
The quiz assesses four key areas of China readiness. Localisation—whether your game is available in Simplified and Traditional Chinese and how that localisation was handled. Marketing assets—whether your key materials, including trailers and store assets, have been adapted for Chinese audiences. Community presence—whether your game already has visibility on Chinese social platforms and with Chinese KOLs. And, of course, the budget—whether you have the resources in place to run a meaningful China campaign.
Your result gives you a readiness score along with a clear indication of where the gaps are and what to address before committing to a China launch.
China is teeming with opportunity, it just needs work. The good news is that most of the gaps the quiz identifies are fixable with the right support and the right strategy behind them. Localisation, asset creation, platform presence, influencer outreach, none of it is out of reach for a studio that is serious about the market.
The quiz tells you where you stand. We can help you close the gap. From localisation support and Chinese social media management to KOL outreach and paid media across Bilibili, Heybox, and RedNote, we handle the full China marketing process for Western developers.
This quiz reflects TGM's experience working with developers entering the Chinese gaming market and is intended as a practical starting point for assessing China readiness. It is not a comprehensive audit. Results should be interpreted as directional guidance rather than a definitive assessment. Every game, genre, and studio situation is different, and the right China strategy will vary accordingly.
The Chinese gaming market, its platforms, regulations, and best practices are subject to change. Platform policies across Bilibili, Heybox, RedNote, and Douyin evolve regularly, and licensing and approval requirements for games in China are governed by Chinese regulatory bodies. We recommend seeking up-to-date guidance before committing to a China launch strategy.
